Who runs Readanah
Readanah is made and run by Mourad Mekki (مراد المكي), an English teacher in the UAE, as part of the Mourad Mekki Teacher Toolkit. It is free and has no advertising. Data is stored with Google Firebase and the site is hosted by Netlify.
Students
How students sign in
Students never type their name or an email. They sign in with a class code, by choosing their nickname and avatar, and with a 4-digit PIN from their teacher. On shared class devices, the sign-in ends when the browser tab is closed.
What is stored about a student
- Nickname and avatar (for example "Falcon"), their class and their teacher.
- Their real name, in the teacher's private class list, and their PIN, in a separate list that only the class teacher can open.
- Reading results: the score for each text, how long it took, an estimated reading speed, totals for each reading skill, pearls, badges and reading streak. Individual answers are never stored, only the score.
- Notes from the teacher to that student, and whether the student has read them.
- A weekly goal and My Words, if the student chooses to use them: the number of texts they aim to read each week, and the words they save with how well they know each one. The class teacher can see the goal, not the words. Students who are not signed in keep their words on their own device only.
- Assignments from their teacher: the readings, the level, optional start and due dates, and whether it is for the whole class or chosen students. Whether an assignment is finished is worked out from the reading results above; nothing extra is recorded about the student.
Opinions, reactions and surveys
When a student says what they thought of a text, answers a survey or sends an opinion about Readanah, it is saved without their account: only the grade and class it came from. Reactions to texts are shown to teachers as class totals, never as who said what. Student comments are checked before sending and cannot include phone numbers, emails, links or unkind words. Student opinions are never quoted. A student opinion records the grade and stream only, not the class.

Groups a teacher makes inside a class are seen by that teacher only. The history of each attempt (score, level, date and skill totals) is seen by the student and their class teacher; a school coordinator sees summaries only.
PINs are visible to the class teacher only: not to the coordinator and not to the admin. Students see an assignment only when it is published for their class or addressed to them.
A school coordinator only sees classes whose teacher has joined their school, and a teacher can leave the school at any time.
Teachers
- Your account stores your title, name, school, email address and classes.
- Feedback is anonymous unless you choose to include your name. You choose whether it is private, counted in summaries, or may be quoted anonymously. A receipt code lets you withdraw and delete it at any time. Anonymous feedback is never matched to your account.
- Content reports include your name, so the problem can be discussed with you.
- Conversations with Mr Mourad can be anonymous. Their codes are kept on the device where you started them.
- Survey answers are stored without your account. Your account only records that a survey was completed or skipped, so it isn't shown again.
On your device
Readanah keeps a few things in the browser: reading settings (text size, spacing, font, sound), results for visitors who are not signed in, results waiting to be sent when the connection returns, and teachers' conversation codes. Clearing the browser's site data removes them. Texts and pictures you choose to save for offline use are stored in the browser too, and can be removed from the home page at any time.
Visit counts
Readanah counts visits and finished texts with Mourad Learning OS, an anonymous counter shared by the Mourad Mekki Teacher Toolkit. It stores no names, no accounts and nothing typed. Fonts are loaded from Google Fonts, which means Google can see a visitor's internet address when the fonts are downloaded.
What Readanah never collects
- No advertising and no advertising trackers.
- No location, photos, microphone or contacts. Read-aloud uses the voices already in the device and sends nothing.
- No student email addresses, phone numbers or dates of birth.
- No selling or sharing of data with anyone.
Resetting and deleting data
- Reset progress. A teacher can reset one student, several students or a whole class. They choose what to erase: results and pearls (every score, badge, streak and certificate), saved words and the weekly goal, and their own notes to the student. The student keeps their account, nickname and PIN.
- Delete a student. A teacher who deletes a student erases their account, profile, every result, their progress, notes, goal and saved words.
- Delete a class. Deleting a class erases every student in it, as above, with its assignments, groups and class notes.
- Delete a teacher account. On the teacher page, under Your data, a teacher can delete their whole account: every class and everything in it, their profile and their sign-in. Feedback they sent is kept without their name unless they withdraw it with its receipt code.
- Students. On the Your data page a student can see what is kept about them, clear their saved words, and clear Readanah from the device they are using. Their results are part of the class record, so only their teacher can reset them.
- This device. Anyone can clear Readanah from a device (Your data page, or Your data on the teacher page). This removes texts saved for offline reading, settings and anything read without signing in.
- For any other request, a teacher can message Mr Mourad from the Feedback page. Families can ask through their school.

منصة «ريدانة» منصة قراءة مجانية للمدارس، يطوّرها ويديرها الأستاذ مراد المكي، ولا تتضمّن أي إعلانات.
الطلبة
يسجّل الطالب دخوله برمز الصف واختيار لقبه وصورته الرمزية ورقم سري من أربعة أرقام يعطيه إياه المعلم، دون أن يكتب اسمه أو بريدًا إلكترونيًا. يُحفَظ الاسم الحقيقي في قائمة الصف الخاصة بالمعلم، ويُحفَظ الرقم السري في قائمة منفصلة لا يفتحها إلا معلم الصف.
يمكن للمعلم أن يرسل واجبات قراءة تتضمّن النصوص والمستوى وموعدَي البدء والتسليم (اختياريًا)، للصف كله أو لطلبة محددين. ويُعرَف إنجاز الواجب من نتائج القراءة نفسها، دون حفظ أي بيانات إضافية عن الطالب.
ويمكن للطالب، إن شاء، أن يحدّد هدفًا أسبوعيًا لعدد النصوص، وأن يحفظ كلمات في «كلماتي» للمراجعة. يرى المعلم الهدف فقط، ولا يرى الكلمات المحفوظة.
تُحفَظ نتيجة كل نص ومجموع المهارات واللآلئ والأوسمة، ولا تُحفَظ إجابات الطالب نفسها مطلقًا. أما آراء الطلبة وإجاباتهم عن الاستبانات وتفاعلهم مع النصوص فتُحفَظ دون ربطها بحساب الطالب أو بصفّه، ويرى المعلم مجموعها على مستوى الصف فقط.
من يرى ماذا
لا يرى الطالب إلا الألقاب. يرى معلم الصف أسماء طلبته وتقدّمهم وملاحظاته لهم. ويرى منسّق المدرسة صفوف المعلمين الذين انضموا إلى مدرسته للاطلاع فقط، ولا يرى الملاحظات ولا الأرقام السرية ولا مجموعات الطلبة التي ينشئها المعلم. ويستطيع مدير المنصة الاطلاع على البيانات لأغراض الدعم، دون أن يقرأ الملاحظات المرسلة إلى الطلبة.
المعلمون
ملاحظات المعلمين وآراؤهم مجهولة الهوية ما لم يختاروا إضافة أسمائهم، ويمكن سحبها وحذفها في أي وقت برمز الإيصال.
ما لا نجمعه أبدًا
لا إعلانات، ولا تتبّع إعلاني، ولا موقع جغرافي، ولا صور، ولا أرقام هواتف أو بريد إلكتروني للطلبة، ولا نبيع أي بيانات أو نشاركها مع أحد.
إعادة الضبط وحذف البيانات
يستطيع المعلم إعادة ضبط تقدّم طالب واحد أو عدة طلبة أو الصف كله، ويختار ما يُمحى: النتائج واللآلئ (كل الدرجات والأوسمة والشهادات)، والكلمات المحفوظة والهدف الأسبوعي، وملاحظاته للطالب، مع بقاء حساب الطالب ولقبه ورقمه السري. وعندما يحذف المعلم طالبًا يُحذَف حسابه وملفه وكل نتائجه وتقدّمه وملاحظاته وهدفه وكلماته المحفوظة، وحذف الصف يحذف كل طلبته وواجباته ومجموعاته. ويستطيع المعلم حذف حسابه بالكامل من خانة «بياناتك» في صفحة المعلم.
ويستطيع الطالب من صفحة «بياناتك» أن يطّلع على ما يُحفَظ عنه، وأن يمسح كلماته المحفوظة، وأن يمسح بيانات «ريدانة» من الجهاز الذي يستخدمه. أما نتائجه فهي جزء من سجل الصف، فلا يعيد ضبطها إلا معلمه. ولأي طلب آخر، يمكن للمعلم مراسلة الأستاذ مراد من صفحة الملاحظات، ويمكن لأولياء الأمور التواصل عبر المدرسة.
